SEA-LION, trained on data in 11 languages spoken across Southeast Asia, including Vietnamese, Thai, and Bahasa Indonesia, is poised to revolutionize natural language processing in the region.
By providing AI models trained on local languages, SEA-LION aims to reduce reliance on Western-centric AI models and foster innovation and development within Southeast Asia.
Dr. Teo highlights the importance of SEA-LION’s commercial viability, stating that AI Singapore plans to release commercially permissible versions of the model in the near future.
“Our goal is to empower businesses across Southeast Asia with AI solutions that are not only effective but also commercially viable,” explains Dr. Teo.
