In a novel twist to his 2024 presidential campaign strategy, Donald Trump, the former U.S. President, is venturing into the burgeoning world of Bitcoin Ordinals with the launch of a new NFT collection.

Aimed at rejuvenating interest and financial support for his political ambitions, Trump’s foray into digital collectibles marks a significant pivot towards leveraging blockchain technology for campaign funding.

Trump’s New NFT Venture on the Bitcoin Blockchain

The latest initiative involves the creation of 200 unique NFTs, part of the “Trump MugShot” collection, to be inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain.

This move signifies Trump’s growing interest in digital assets as a means to engage supporters and generate campaign funds. The Collect Trump Card account, known for promoting Trump-related projects, announced the upcoming sale of these NFTs on Magic Eden, with details to be confirmed at a later date.

The Collect Trump Cards website specifies that the purchase of these NFTs requires Wrapped Ethereum, underscoring the cross-blockchain capabilities that allow assets like Ethereum to be utilized on different blockchain platforms.

Exclusive Offers to Boost NFT Sales

In a bid to incentivize potential buyers, the campaign has introduced an offer where the first two hundred individuals to purchase 100 Trump NFTs in a single transaction will receive a unique “one of one” inscription upon its creation.

Additionally, these buyers will gain two VIP tickets to an exclusive event hosted by Trump at Mar-a-Lago, further blurring the lines between digital collectible ownership and real-world experiences.

“All Trump Digital Trading Cards: MugShot Edition, are non-transferrable until December 31, 2024,” states the Collect Trump Cards. “Be part of the Trump Collectors Community!”

Despite these efforts, the uptake has been tepid, with OpenSea reporting that less than half of the NFTs have been minted so far.

Trump’s Continuing Exploration of Digital Collectibles

This Ordinals collection is the latest in Trump’s exploration of NFTs, following the December launch of the “MugShot Edition” which saw 100,000 NFTs released on the Polygon network.

Moreover, Trump’s campaign notably converted 1,075 ETH into approximately $2.4 million, showcasing the significant financial potential of NFT sales.

However, the Collect Trump Card Twitter account has emphasized that these digital trading cards are designed for personal collection and enjoyment, rather than as investment vehicles, stating, “Trump Digital Trading Cards (NFTs) are intended as collectible items for individual enjoyment only, not for investment vehicles. These Digital Trading Cards are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign.”
