Starknet Announces Fix for STRK Token Airdrop, Extends Eligibility

Starknet Announces Fix for STRK Token Airdrop, Extends Eligibility
SHARE

Starknet, the Ethereum layer-2 blockchain network, has addressed issues surrounding the STRK token airdrop, announcing an extension of eligibility for certain users who previously encountered difficulties in claiming their tokens.

The Starknet Foundation has successfully resolved concerns involving pre-Merge ETH stakers and Immutable X users, setting the stage for these groups to claim their STRK tokens starting next month.

Clarification and Extension of Eligibility

After identifying inaccuracies in the classification of Immutable X and VeVe users, Starknet has corrected the list provided by Immutable, which inaccurately merged the two groups.

This error led to the misidentification of users eligible for the STRK airdrop. Immutable X users who executed eight or more transactions prior to June 1, 2022, are now eligible to claim their airdrop in April.

The Starknet Foundation is still in discussions with VeVe regarding airdrops for their users, aiming to ensure equitable distribution for all parties involved.

Resolution for Pooled ETH Stakers

Starknet also tackled challenges faced by pooled ETH stakers, who were initially unable to receive their STRK due to various technical issues.

After collaborating with staking protocols to identify eligible users, Starknet has confirmed that these users can claim their airdrop starting in April, marking significant progress in rectifying the airdrop’s initial complications.

Airdrop Schedule and Criteria Adjustments

This update follows Starknet’s February decision to modify its unlock schedule in response to community concerns regarding potential market impacts.

The revision aimed to balance distributions over three years for early contributors and investors, aligning with Starknet’s commitment to a fair and transparent airdrop process.

Despite this effort, the STRK airdrop faced criticism from some community members who felt excluded based on the eligibility requirement of holding a minimum of 0.005 ETH at the time of a snapshot on Nov.

15, 2023. The subsequent market reaction saw a significant price drop for STRK, highlighting the challenges in managing airdrop expectations and market dynamics.

Looking Ahead

As Starknet moves forward with its corrected airdrop plan, the focus remains on fostering a robust and inclusive ecosystem for all network participants.

With the corrections in place and eligibility extended, Starknet aims to rebuild confidence among its users and continue its mission of enhancing the Ethereum blockchain‘s scalability and efficiency through layer-2 solutions.
